Police Seize $107,000 Worth of Illegal Cannabis and Narcotics in Downtown Store Raid

Last week, law enforcement authorities conducted a raid at a downtown convenience store, resulting in the seizure of illegal cannabis products, narcotics, and various other items valued at approximately $107,000, according to officials.

The Middletown Police Department’s street crimes and narcotics units uncovered these items on September 1st when they executed a search warrant at Munchiez, a small store situated at 58 Washington St., as announced by Police Chief Erik Costa in a press release.

Chief Costa explained that the search warrant was obtained following an undercover investigation into the store’s operations. This investigation revealed that narcotics were being illicitly sold at the establishment, which lacks the necessary licenses to sell cannabis or THC products.

During the operation, law enforcement officers confiscated a significant quantity of cannabis products, THC concentrate, packaging materials for psilocybin mushrooms, business records, and currency.

The investigation into this business is ongoing, and Chief Costa anticipates that arrests will be made in connection with this case. Furthermore, he mentioned that the store has been referred to other city departments for further scrutiny.
